Sailor Reefer Jackets

Figure 1.--.

HBC wants to sketch out the chronological trends for both reefer jackets and reefer suyits. Unfortunately only limited information is availaible at this time.

Reefer Jackets

We do not have good information at this time on the chrnology of reefer jackets as coats.

Reefer Suits

HBC at this time has only limited information on the chronology of reefer suits. The original sailor suit worn by the future Edeard VII in the 1940s was a white middly blouse and and bellbottom trousers. We are not sure when boys first began weraring reefer jackets. We believed that they became popular in the 1880s and were worn through the 1910s. This is, however, only an estimate and needs further conformation.

Clothing Catalogs

Clothing catalogs are an invaluable source of information on the chronology of reefer jackets and suits, as well as many other garments and styles. The catalogs also provide details on styles, materials, and the ages (sizes) of the boys who wore these outfits.
