This Belgian boy and his sister were photographed in 1917 (figure 1). He looks to be about 10 years old. He wears a stripped short pants sailor suit with traditional styling. He has traditional three-stripe detailing. We have noted some Belgian boys wearing suits with 4 olr even 5 stripe detailing. This would have been a summer sailor suit as it is made in a light color. Usually the white suits were for the summer. I'm not sure what color the stripes or the neck and cuff detailing were. His scarfe knot is tied in the middle and the sacrfe than fans out below, a style was have noted on Belgian boys wearing. He has white three quarter socks with white strap shoes. His sister wears a fashionable hair bow and very wide collar. It is difficult to tell, but she might have a smock over her dress. She wears high-top shoes rather than strap shoes like her brother. Both wear white socks. We do not know what type of hat he wore with his sailor suit.
