This is probably a well known painting so we do hope to be able to identify it. We would guess that it is a 17th century English painting, perhaps one of the Stuarts although I am not sure which one. Could it be James I when he first became king? Hopefully one of our English readers will be able to identify it. It certainly is a good example of the wigs that were worn in the 17th and 18th centuries. I can not believe that all those curls are his.
