W. Jackson Holtzinger (U.S., 1897?- )

Figure 1.--W. Jackson Holtzinger, boy preacher in this portrait wears a knickers suit. HBC would date it to about 1910. Note the large pockets on his coat jacket.

HBC has noted a postcard of a W. Jackson Holtzinger who was described as a "boy evangelist, age 13" He was apparently preaching at Lakemont, Pennsylvania. He wears a knickers suit with very large pockets. Hewears his knickers with long dark stockings and destinctive button shoes. He wears a soft collar and necktie. The style of knickers that he wears were common in the early 20th century before World War I. HBC would date the portrait about 1910. The photo shows him standing behind a portable lectern or pulpit with a Bible on it. We have been able to find no information about his preaching.
