Figure 1.--Much of the academic work at a prep school is done durung the morning. The afternoon is more varied. THre are some classes, but a good bit of the afternoon is used for games and a range of activities. 

Here you can have a look at school life from the morning with the children coming to school to bed time in the evening. We will load some sample time tables to see how basically the school day was structured and varied among schools. We will also have a look at the various elements of the school day in detail. We will focus much of our attention on classes, games, and activities, but there are maby other sapects of the school day like morning break, lunch, rest period, tuck, prep, and other compobents of the school day which we will look at. Here we will lay out the various aspects of school life in a rough daily time-table approach. The various schools have quite similar schedules, but they are not identical so our layout is a generalized approach and indivudual schools might have some different approaches. We are not always able to present photographs and written pieces on the many different components, but we will do our best.

Routines and Time Tables

We have some basic information about school routines which provide a great deal of useful informtin about the schools and operations on a daily basis. There are many similarities, but also some destincr features at individual schools. We will also load some sample time tables to see how basically the school day was structured. Of course this varied somewhat from school to school. The sample time tables will provide a rough outline of the school day and help the reader to better understand the school day. Readers can then focus on the daily events of greatest interest.

Specific Daily Activities

We will also have a look at the various elements of the school day in detail. We will focus much of our attention on classes, games, and activities, but there are many other aspects of the school day like morning break, lunch, rest period, tuck, prep, and other compobents of the school day which we will look at. Some like morning break are very important to the children. Here we will lay out the various aspects of school life in a rough daily time-table approach. The various schools have quite similar schedules, but they are not identical so our layout is a generalized approach and indivudual schools might have some different approaches. We are not always able to present photographs and written pieces on the many different components, but we will do our best. Many of the dailu activities will seem familar, common to schools around the world. Other aspects are more destinctive.

Special Activities

Most schools varied the daily time table to some extent. This differed from school to school. These time table variations took different frms. The schools arranged field trips and excursions to take advantages of local sites that touched upon the curriculum. This depended on the loction of the school. There are museums of different kinds located all over the country. The historical are almost endless and range from Hadrians Wall in the north of England to the Hastings battlefield site in the south. One prep school is located close to Stonehenge and of course every school boy wants to visit the Tower of London. There are also many geological features to visit. Another common practice is to devote at least one afternoon a week to pursuits or clubs where the children can engage in a wide variety of different activitis.
