The look and activities varies greatly seasomally. This is due to both the easonal changes and the time table. Most schools have four terms (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer Term). This is not the cade at every school, but it is a very common approachThey are sometimes refeered to by the holidays, such as the Christmas and Easter Terms. The curriculum is relatively standard throughout the year, but there are changes in the timetable. Freetime and bedtime change at many schools when the days get shorter. The sports change seasoally and sports are an important part of the program at many schools. Different holidays are celebrated. At the beginning of school, rugby dominates the sports prgram. Schools can arrange the daily school with considerable flexibility, but the sports have to be coordinated so they can arrange fixtures with other schools. The high point of the Fall Term is Guy Fawkes Day and Bonfire Night. Them attention shifts to Christmas. During the Winter there is less opportunity for outdoor activities because of the weather. Many schools make seasonal uniform changes, especially in the Spring when the weather begins to warm up. And as the final term approaches the leavers focus increasingly on the Common Entrance Examination. And cricket begins to dominate games. Also in the final term are Soprts Day, Prize Giving, and the School fete. While one approach is four terms. Many schools divide the year into three terms: Autumn (September-December), primg (January-March), and Summer (Aoril-July).

Autumn Term (September-December)

Most new children arrive in the Fall Term. Rugby dominates the sports program. Schools in the Fall Term. The annual ritual of conker fights occur in the Fall. The high point of the Fall Term is Guy Fawkes Day and Bonfire Night. The sacrifice of the two great World wars is honored on Remberance Day. Red poppies are everywhere. Then attention shifts to Christmas. Many schools have carol services. The children's writing often focus on seasonal changes. In Autumn the children love to write about the leaves.

Winter Term (January-February)

Freetime and bedtime change at many schools when the days get shorter. During the Winter there is less opportunity for outdoor activities because of the weather. Many schools do soccer in the Winter Term and often hockey which is often difficult because of the weather. The Winter Term is a popular time to do the school play as it is an indoor activity, but this varies from school to schhol.

Spring Term (March-May)

Many schools make seasonal uniform changes, especially in the Spring when the weather begins to warm up. Therecare also often time table afjustments. Outdoor activities become increasingly possible. An important time at many schools is when the school pool is opened. Pnly a few schools have heated pools.

Summer Term (May-July)

And as the final term approaches the leavers focus increasingly on the Common Entrance Examination. Cricket begins to dominate games. Also in the final term are Sports Day, Prize Giving, and the School fete. Some schools have a new student's day or other event to pave the way for next year's newboys and girls.
