Rompers

Rompers in 1948 were very popular for young children. They were exclusively for boys. They were primarily a play garment to be worn around the home are for outings to the beach, but there were dressier versions as well. Fashion magazines commonly showed pre-school boys wearing rompers. Blue was the most common color (figure 1). Gingham rompers were also popular. Girls at the same age wore little dresses. We notice white collars and puffed short sleeves. Both the girls' dresses and boys' rompers had bows at th back.
