McCall's Magazine Dress Patterns--Page774 (June 1905)


Figure 1.--This page had a mix of children's clothes, both boys and girls clothes. The dresses were both child and girl dresses. Note the fancy styling. There is no hint as to what is meant by child. The age range begins at age 2 which meant that boys might wear them. Note that the boy's suit begins at age 3. It is likely, however that the child dresses were meant primarily for girls, but the use of "child" means that mother could have used it for a little boy. This was, however, becoming increasingly common by 1905.

These patterns from McCall's Magazine (June 1905) were on page 774. The page had a mix of children's clothes, both boys and girls clothes. The dresses were both child and girl dresses. The McCall's ad copy read, "(All Seams Allowed.) Cut in 7 sizes, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. No. 9031. -- Child's Dress (with or without Bertha and Cuffs and having an Attached Sraight Kilt Pleated Skirt ..."

9037: Child's Dress

The illustration looks like two different dresses, but shows how options could be use in the basic pattern. The McCalls ad copy read, "(All Seams Allowed.) Cut in 7 sizes, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. No. 9037. -- Child's Dress (High or Low Neck, with Two Styles of Sleeves and with or without Lace Ruffle and Top Skirt), requires for medium size, 4 yds. material 27 ins. wide, 3 yds 36 ins wide, or 2 1/4 yds. 44 ins. wide. Lining required 1 1/4 yds. 22 ins. wide, or 1 yd., 36 ins. wide; lace represented, 2 yds.; band trimming, 1 1/4 yds.; ribbon, 2 1/2 yds.; beading, 4 yds.; baby ribbon, 4 yds.; edging 2 yds. Price, 15 cents."

9047: Girls' Dress

The McCall's ad copy read, "(All Seams Allowed.) Cut in 7 sizes, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. No. 9031. -- Child's Dress (with or without Bertha Body Lining and Cuffs and having an Attached Straight Box Pleated Skirt), ...."

9065: Boys' Suit

The McCall's ad copy read, "(All Seams Allowed.) Cut in 6 sizes, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. No. 9065. -- Boys' Suit (consisting of a Double-Breasted Blouse, with Removable Eton Collarand Knickerbocker Trousers), require for medium size, 3 3/4 yds. material 27 ins. wide, 2 3/8 yds. 26 ims. wide, or 1 3/4 yds. 54 ims. wide, 1 collar, 1 tie, and 6 button. Price, 15 cents."

9075: Boys' Reefer

The McCall's ad copy read, "(All Seams Allowed.) No. 9075 -- Boys' Reefer (in Two Lengths, with Notched or Sailor Collarand with or without Pockets), require for medium size, 2 5/8 yds. material 27 ins. wide, 1 1/4 yds. 36 ins. wide, or 1 1/4 yds. 54 ins. wide, 2 emblems, 6 large and 4 small buttons. Price, 15 cents."
