MvCall Sewing Pattern: Peaked Cap and Coat (1941)


Figure 1.--We note McCall pattern #4341 from 1941 for a peaked cap and coat. The one we found is for a child's size 2. I'm not sure to what size this pattern was made, but the illustrations suggest it was also available in larger sizes. There were a number of stylistic options for the coat. Note that the peaked cap and coat match.

We note McCall pattern #4341 from 1941 for a peaked cap and coat. The one we found is for a child's size 2. I'm not sure to what size this pattern was made, but the illustrations suggest it was also available in larger sizes. There were a number of stylistic options for the coat. Note that the peaked cap and coat match. One question we have about this pattern is that it seems to show styles that would have been worn by affluent families, including the peaked cap, overcoat, short pants, and kneesocks. We thought that mothers doing home sommon would be more likely from modest income families. Our information here, however, is limited.
