A HBC reader suggests that a good example of the trend of boys entering popular music and entertainment is Aaron Carter. Aaron is one of the most successful pop musicians in America in the early 2000s--dubbed the "Little Prince of Pop". If you look at his press photos, Aaron is always dressed in trendy clothes like these bib-front jeans. His photography department always does an excellent job in presenting him to his fans. His musical career has been nothing short of spectacular. I listend to a performance in 2002 when he was 15, a bit older than shown here. Aaron sang beautifully, only I could not make out the lyrics. He was not loud like rock musicians, I just could not make out the words. I can't help, but think that he would be so much more effective if he sang so that the lyrics were clearer. His fans though do not seem to mind. Its hard to argue with success. He has set records for the number of recordings sold for a person his age.
Aaron Charles Carter was named after his grand fathers, Charles Douglas Spaulding and "Chuck" Carter. Aaron's parents lived in Jamestown New York before moving to Tampa, Florida.
Aaron besides his twin Angel has three brothers and sisters: Bobbie Jean (B.J.), Leslie, and Nick who got Aaron started in music.
Aaron was born in Tampa, Florida on December 7, 1987. Actually he had company, his twin sister Angel was born a few moments earlier.
Nick was also a talented vocalist and was described as a "Performer Extraordinaire" by Top of the Pops magazine. It was Nick who asked Aaron if he might like to sing also. Aaron's career began at age 7 years. He managed to land the position of lead singer
with the Dead End band. Since then, Aaron has set a series of records for a child performer. He has the record for the most hit songs ever recorded by a person his age. Aaron ang with the Dead End for a couple years and then they went there separe ways. The Dead end wanted to persue alterantive music. Aaron was interested in pop music. Since then he has performed as a solo act.
Aaron after performing for a few years began vocal training through private voice lessons.
Aaron began to be really noticed in 1997 when he was 10 years old. Aaron in 1997 performed during a Backstreet Boys' concert in Berlin, Germany. While only a warm-up act, he reportedly stole the show! Edel Record offered him a recording contract. His first release was a single, "Crush On You". When it proved successfil, he followed with "Crazy
Little Party Girl", "I'm Gonna Miss You Forever", and "Shake It". These records all sold well, but in Europe. Aaron was still virtually unknown in America. These records all went gold in Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada, and Germany.
Aaron in 1998 began to wotk on his carrer in America. His first full album, named simply "Aaron Carter" was released in America in 1998 and also proved to be very popular. He then released another single--"Surfin' USA"--a remake of the Beach Boys' classic song. Aaron combined with several other popular groups, including The Moffatts, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Gil Ofarim and others to record a single entitled "Let the Music Heal Your Soul". They styled themselves the Bravo All Stars and donated the proceeds to benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation, an organization treating disabled and
autistic children by using specially designed music therapy.
Aaron hit the bigtime in 2000. His next album, "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)" was a smash hit. There was also a successful single and video of the same name. He received the assignment to openefor Britney Spears on the U.S. leg of her wildly popular 2000 world tour. Aaron mother published a biography. Not every boy has a biography done on him at age 13. He also made a series of well received appearances on Disney, Nickelodeon, Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and Rosie O'Donnell.
Aaron had another graet year in 2001. He earned the Favorite Rising Star award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. He also got marvelous reviews for his performances as Jojo the Who in the Broadway hit musical, "Seussical the Musical". His multiplatinum album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard charts, while he was also ranked at number 52 on Rolling Stone's Hot 100 Artists.
