Illustrators: Florence Edith Storer (United States, early 20th century)

Figure 1.--Storer's charming drawings beauttifully capture children in the early 20th centuty. This 1909 drawing shows two boys in tunuic suits and bloomer knickers with a little girl in a large hairbow standing between them

Storer was active at the the turn of the century. Her illustrations are some of the most enchantiung images of early 20th century childhhod that we know. She drew many wonderfull illustrations of children for Robert Lewis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses first published in 1885. Her illustrations may have been for a later edition. Another source has her most active from 1909-14. Unfortunately at this time we know very little about her. We would be very interested in any information HBC readers may have on this truly great American illustrator. The drawing here shows two boys in tunuic suits and bloomer knickers with a little girl in a large hairbow standing between them. It was drawn in 1909.
