The portrait depicts a delightful study of a young Eastern European peasant boy possibly Baltic. The boy wears a brown sleeved shirt with a black singlet and rounded neck. The image here crops out much of his clothing, but a bit more can be seem in the full image of the painting. This face has been beautifully portrayed with a cheeky glint in his eye. Above his short blonde hair peeks out from a woven hat having pink/red and white/cream colouring, tied behind his head, with a plaited tassel behind. Perhaps a HBC reader will hve some insights as to the nationality. The destinctive woven headwear may provide a clue.
