*** English boy Edward Ollerenshaw

Edward Ollerenshaw (England, 1812-68)

Edward Ollerenshaw
Figure 1.-- The portrait is undated, but we believe this is the same Edward Ollerenshaw born in Combs, High Peak Borough, Derbyshire (1812). Edward looks to be about 8 years ols, which would date the pinting to about 1820. He wearsa jacket with a ruffled collAr, perhaps a ruff. Edward's jacket, however, does not look at all like a skeleton suit which was in fashion at the time.

We note a portrait of Edward Ollerenshaw painted by an unknown artist. We have no idea who the artist was. Thanks to a label on he back if the paining, we know who his boys is. Edward was the son of Edward Ollerenshaw thus he was Edward Jr. Edward Jr was the Great-great uncle of Lord Sauderson (spelling indestinct). This, hsi clothing and the fact the family had a portarit done indicate tgathe came frm a family of some affluence. There are some question marks on the label so apparently the identification is somewhat uncertain. The portrait is undated, but we believe this is the same Edward Ollerenshaw born in Combs, High Peak Borough, Derbyshire (1812). Edward looks to be about 8 years ols, which would date the pinting to about 1820. He wearsa jacket with a ruffled collr, perhaps a ruff. Edward's short jacket looks to be belted. It does not, however, look at all like a skeleton suit which was in fashion at the time. The jacket is notable for the number of ornnental buttons. We know very little about him, but he died in Combs, the same place that he was born which seems a bit unusual with a family of some status.
