English Boys' Clothes: Vintage Scottish Suit--Vest


Figure 1.--Here is the Glengary cap that went with this London-made Scottish Huigland outfit page. Click on the image to see the jacket.

This Highland outfit was made yo be worn with a matching black velvet vest or waistcoat as the British would say. Both the jacket and vest were heavily emvroidered in a coordinated style. The detailing was coordinated, but slightly less elaborate. As the jacket buttoned to the collar, you rather wonder why a vest was necessary. With the jacket, one could not see the the vest. At any rate the suit had a vest and it was heavily styled to go with the jacket styling.
