German Boys Clothes: Affluent Family (1905-10)

Figure 1.-- This photograph is undated, but we would guess about 1905-10. The family looks to be staying at a hotel resort in the mountains and are out for a walk. We are unsure who the adults are, probably the grandparents. I'm not sure who the second gentleman is. The boy wears a sailor suit. The girl wears a white dress with a tam. Note the flower in her hair. The girl and men have umbrellas. The boy has strings in his hand. I am not sure what the purpose was. Image courtesy of Album1900.

This photograph is undated, but we would guess about 1905-10. The family looks to be staying at a hotel resort in the mountains and are out for a walk. This could be quite expensive. So the families involved were if not wealthy were reasonably affluent. Going to mountain resorts to enjoy the scenery and taking walks in the surrounding woods and hills was very popular in Germany. We are unsure who the adults are, probably the grandparents. I'm not sure who the second gentleman is. The boy wears a sailor suit. The girl wears a white dress with a tam. Note the flower in her hair. Thegirl and men have umbrellas. The boy has strings in his hand. I am not sure what the purpose was.
