We still have very limited informaion on hair bows Germany. We are not sure yet jyst when the began to be worn. We do know that they were very popula by the turn of the 20th century. As in America and many European countries, hair bows were very popular in Germany. Based on the limited number of images in our archives it seems that hair bows were especially popular for girls in Germany. Perhaps not as common as in America, but perhaps more populat thamn in most other Europwan countries. We havev also noted a few images of German boys wearing hair bows, but this seems much less common than in other European countries. Of course much more common in Germany was extremnely close cropped hair. The practice may have been less common in Germany than elsewhere, but I believe that the fashion did exist. We have seen a few German boys wearing hairbows. The fashion may have been more common in Bavaria where Frencg fashions seem more influential tham elsewhere in Germany. We have also seen a few Berlin boys wearing hair bows. Other than the few photographs, we have no information from published sources about German boys wearing hairbows. We have seen them with both ringlet curls and straight hair as well as on breeched and unbrreched boys.
