Our parents were really good about such things, making an effort to allow plenty of time for the things that we kids wanted to do. We are dressed in our Sunday best which was definitely with long pants. I don't know why I'm wearing the big dark sun glasses, as the paparazzi didn't yet know who I am. One of our favorite spots in Italy was Venice which had all kinds of interesting attractions. Since Venice was only a 45 minute ride from our house, it was a favorite place to visit and we went into the city on numerous occassions. This of course was in the late 1950s before the city started to be abandoned due to flooding. Here we are visiting St. Mark's Square. I don't know why I'm wearing the big dark sun glasses, as the paparazzi didn't yet know who I am. It must have been winter, as I actually have enough hair to comb in this picture. I remember Venice very well. It was very alive and exciting compared to the small farm town of Aviano where we lived. Lots of things to interest us kids. I took my family there in 2002 and was saddened by how empty the city is now.
