Difficult Images: Real

Figure 1.--This photograph does not look quite right to HBC. These boys are a bit older than boys would commonly wore such long curls. The curls may well be wigs. The outfits look more like a costume than actual clothes, but no information is available.

HBC has encoutered some inages from various periods. Some may be staged costume images rather than photographs of the clothes boys actually wore. These images could be for plays, costume parties, or a variety of other reasons. HBC would be very interested in reader assessments of these images.

Image 1

This photograph does not look quite right to HBC. These boys are a bit older than boys would commonly wore such long curls. The curls may well be wigs. The ringlets look hust to unigorm for real curls. The caps may be used to cover up the wigs. The outfits look more like a costume than actual clothes. The trim appears to be temprarily pinned on rather than actual Faunrleroy outfits. Unfortunately no information is avialable. I'm not sure when the photograph was taken, but the shoes suggest the 1910s. The plain background also suggests it is a staged image, although HBC has no idea what the oaccasion was.

Reader comments

I think Mom got a little carried away. These brothers look fairly old to be wearing curls.
