Individual Malaysian School: Royal Australian Air Force School--Uniform

Figure 1.--This is a the grade 3 class in 1963. They look to be acting out some kind of skit. Notice be boy reading at right. These boys wear dark shorts and ankel socks. The older boys wore white shorts and kneesocks.

The younger boys attending the RAAF School at Butterworth in 1963 wore the uniforms seen here (figure 1). The boys wore monogramed white shirts which because of the heat were worn with open collars. Many of the boys wear white shirts without the monograms, but they all wear collared shirts. I think the boy in one oimage has a monogram on his shirt, but perhaps it is just pens in his pocket. They had matching white shorts and white kneesocks. Only the boys wear kneesocks. The girls wore white dresses with ankle socks and white shoes. This may have been the secondary school uniform. We note other photographs where the younger boys were wearing dark colored shorts with ankle socks. I'm not sure what color the shorts were, but would guess they might be blue, but there are differences in the color. This is a the grade 3 class in 1963 (figure 1).
