Czechoslovakian Schoolwear: Individual Schools--Hodejice School

Figure 1.--Here we see the Hodejice School in 1963-64. This looks to be a village primary school. The portrait was taken in 1963-64. Click on the image to see the rest of the class.

We have noted an interesting Czech school site Školní rok, but apparently this means school year in Czech. Apparently the school was Hodejice. The school is located in Hodejice. Thus the school is named after the village where it was located. The site provides glimses ofschoolwear from the 1960s-2000s at a typical Czech primary school. Unfortunately as the site is in Czech, we can not tell much about the school. The children wear uniforms in some photographs, but their regular clothes in other photographs. The building looks like a substantial edifice so we believe this is an urban school. The children here were born in 1954-55. They were 3rd and 4th year students. The portrait was probably taken in the 1963-64 school year. The children are dressed cassually. Two boys wear H-bar pants and one boy (harder to spot) wears suspender pants. These were common garments in Czechoslovakia, but are no longer commonly seen after the mid-1960s. One interesting aspect of the photograph is that only one child wears the red Young Pioneer scarfe. I think that is because of the age of the children. Hopefully our Czech readers will tell us more about the school.
