Vingelz 1908 Village Primary School: Children's Age


Figure 1.--There are 25 children here. The children all look quite young. We wonder if there could have been a class with the older children. Some of the younger children seen quite young, perhaps about 5 years old or even younger. Notice how the little boy has thrown down his book.

There are 25 children here. The children all look quite young. We wonder if there could have been a class with the older children. The girls around the teacher look a little older than any of the boys. Some of the younger children seen quite young, perhaps about 5 years old or even younger. Perhaps village schools were flexible as to the age children began. Here I am not sure. None of the children seen much older than 10 years at the most. I think these village schools normally had older children than that.
