Boys' Hair Bows: Unidentified Boy (1900s)

Figure 1.--The unidentified boy looks 6-7 years old in the second portrait and has long wavy curls rather than tight righlets. His haie is quite a bit konger, falling to his shoulders. This is a little older than most boys we have noted with hair bows, but not by any means the oldest. He wears a fancy white blouse, but not as fancy as the Fauntleroy blouse he wore when younger. The collar is a lottle unusual with a fancy blouse. It was an Eton collar, probably a detachable collar. Image courtesy of the RG collection.

His pants are bloomer knickers rather like the ones commonly worn with tunics. He wearrs dark, probably black long sockings and low-cut oxford shoes.
