Clothes

The Sailor Suit

The boy's white sailor suit has traditional styling, although multiple strip detailing rather than the more common three stripes. I'm not sure what color the detailing is, but could be light blue or even red. There look to be six white stripes. He does not wear a dickey which along with the white suit suggests that it is summer. He had a large white bow rather than a more traditional black scarfe. He appears to be wearing a jacket affair rather than a middly blouse which was common at the time. The left sleeve has an insignia and cuffs have six white stripes on colored background button cuffs. His has button-on short pants or kneepants. The shorts are knee length with side pockets and fly front.

Kneesocks

He wears with white kneesocks with a slight cuff. Actually the socks are worn a little below the knee, but this is because they are cuffed. They are definitely higher than three-quarter socks. This is an early image of white kneesocks. We note mostly dark kneesocks in the 1910s, but the white socks worn by younger boys were generally three-quarter socks.

Footwear

He wears black patent leather strap shoes. They are the ankle strap style that was popular innthe 1910s andc early 20s. The shoes have a front bow decoration.

Hair

His hair is long, but well above shoulder length. The hair is cut in bangs and ear length on side in a kind of page cut.
