La Gloire de mon père: Parks

Figure 1.-- La Gloire de Mon Pere provides an interesting scene in the Parc Borely. Parks were very important to the lives of city children. Here we see an image of Marcel and his brother Paul walking in Parc Borely in Marseilles.

La Gloire de Mon Pere provides an interesting scene in the Parc Borely. Parks were very important to the lives of city children. Here we see an image of Marcel and his brother Paul walking in Parc Borely in Marseilles. Much of the film (and book) is set in the Provencal countryside where the boys wear holiday clothes but for walks in the city parks they are all dressed up. The great wrought iron gates shown remind me of the gates at Kew Gardens and I also recall those water sprinklers in Summer being set up by the flower beds in our local park. We used to run through them when it was hot.I'm trying to write a bit more on that.
