The costuming in the "Sorcerer's Stone" was a kind of mix of traditional and modern styles. At the Hogwarts school the students wear traditionally styled uniforms. We note one scene at the beginning of the film. Some school children lare shown eaving the zoo. They are wearing a typical school uniform including caps, now rarely seen, and long trousers, now common. The girls wear straw hats. This comes from the beginning of the movie when Dudley, who’s celebrating his birthday, visits the zoo with his parents and Harry. Dudley's private school uniform includes a boater.
