Figure 1.--Here is a charming view of Xerxes, meant to be a Greek boy. Actually I think Xerxes was a Persian name. I also doubt if the costume is very accuarate. I don't know about the hair. Non-the-less it is a charming drawing.

There are many drawings from classical antiquity illustrating the fables of Greece and Rome. They provided some refreshingly original drawings of the often told classical fables. I'm not sure how accurate the clothing depicted is or even how accurate te sisters tried to be with it. But there views of ancient Greece and Rome are a delight. There are also a few drawings of Greek and Roman boys in their various antholgies in which case they are not associated in the various fables.
