Harold and Phyllis (April 1906)

This photograph of Harold and Phyllis was taken a couple years after the first photograph in the albumns. Both wear wide-brimmed sailor hats, but they are styled differently (figure 1). Harold's hat has a black trim around the brim. Phyllis' hat has some huge arrangement on top. Harold seems to be wearing some kind of turtle-neck sweater. Both have double breasted coats, but Phyllis has one styled decidely girishly and with very large buttons. April can be a quite chilly month, epecially in a northern state like New Jersey explaining why they are wearing their coats. Harold wears white knickers and Phyllis a white dress. Both wear black stockings. Harold has a bell looking rather like a small school bell. I'm not sure what the bell was for. They do not have books and surely must have attended school in New York. This photograph looks to have been taken near at 'Mallowfield' in Mamaroneck. N.Y. This shows that they did not just use their country home in the summer.
