Unexplained German Images

Figure 1.--We know that the first image is German. Given the fashions the boys are wearing. we suspect it was taken in the early 1930s. That is all we know about it. We are totally mistified as to what is being depicted.

HBC occassional comes accross some images which totally mistify us. We archive German images here that we simply can not explain. These are images we know to be German. We can also often date them--we just can not explain what is being depicted. Hopefully our German readers can help explain what is happening in these images.

Image 1

We know that the first image is German. Given the fashions the boys are wearing. we sispect it was taken in the early 1930s. That is all we know about it. We are totally mistified as to what is being depicted. A German reader writes, "The unidentified picture looks to me like a childs play. The children are mostly sitting in boxes or baskets Most of them are having bottles and are wearing buckets als helmets. I think they play some kind of "ship at sea" game, perhaps with some drunken sailors involved. The place looks like rental houses with large gardens. (Notice the large area between the houses and the fence). If the picture is from the darly 50s it would explain the various things the kids use for play, as there weren’t much things around after the World War II."
