French Mail Order Catalogs and Clothing Advertisements with Boys Clothings: The 2000s


Figure 1.--This is one of the styles of boys school smocks offered by Bobine in 2005. There were several different styles, including front buttoning. This was a side-buttoning style. We are not sure how common they were at French schools. They were done in blue and grey shades in sizes 4-16 years.

Online catalogs in France become increasingly popular in the 2000s. One of the most important is Cyrillus. We note that through 2002 that Cyrillus offered "H-bar" suspender shorts. In 2003 the "H-bar" shorts were no longer offered, but there were still suspender shorts.

One of the most important French online clothing catalogs is Cyrillus. We note that through 2002 that Cyrillus offered "H-bar" suspender shorts. One catalog offered specialized styles of socks for both boys and girls. Most were ankle socks, but there were some kneesocks as well.

Cyrillus in their 2003 online catalog no longer offered the "H-bar" shorts, but there were still suspender shorts.

We note a French company, Bobine, offering school smocks in 2005. They were offered in several styles for boys, suggesting that there was a substantial demand. we are not at all sure, however, how popular they were.
