Petit College Chronology: The 1970s


Figure 1.--This is the 8 eme class at a school I think was called the Petit College. The portrait was taken in the 1970-71 school year. The boys all wear identical smocks giving the look of a school uniform. Click on the image to see the rest of the class.

The other dated image we have is for another 8 eme class just after the one herefor the 1970-71 academic year. This image was marked 8 eme 4, suggesing that there may have been four such classes which would mean a rather large school. The boys wear the identical smock seen here. Their smocks have white collars and are center buttoning and self-belted. Although hard to see here, the smocks have two front pockers. Again the boys wear their smocks with short pants and white socks, almost surely because of the conformity there was a school rule. There was no change in the uniform. Curiously the only difference in the smocks is that there are variations in the length. Sometime between 1976 and 1977, the schools seem to have abandoned the smocks that had been used as uniforms.
