Petit College: Class Levels

Figure 1.--This is the 9 eme class at the Petit College. The portrait is undated, but was probably taken about 1970. Click on the image to see the rest of the class.

I am not sure what age group the school was designed to accommodate. The available images are all of the 8 and 9 eme classes which suggest a primary school. Most of the availaiable images are 8 eme classes like the boys here. We note one 9 eme class which is slightly younger boys. The 9 eme class looks to be from about 1970. I'm not possitive about the age equivalent of these classes, but would assume that they would be simukar to the French system.

School Classes

I am not sure what age group the school was designed to accommodate. The available images are all of the 8 and 9 eme classes which suggest a primary school. We have little information about the Swiss school system. Hopefully a Swiss reader will provides us some background information.

9 eme

We note one 9 eme class which is slightly younger boys. The 9 eme class looks to be from about 1970. The children may be about 8-9 years

8 eme

Most of the availaiable images are 8 eme classes. At this time, the classes in the chronological section are all 8 eme classes. The children may be about 9-10 years old.

French System

I thought that the the age equivalent of these classes might be similar to the French system, but this does not appear to be the case.
