Boys Knitted Snow Suits: Patterns

Figure 1.--These boys appeared in a Germsn for Pernelle Wolle, legging and sweater sets. It was publised in the Burda book about 1965. Note the patterened leggings. Ofren in these knitted snow suits, the sweater might have a pattern, but the legging bottoms were plain.

Boys and girls often wore very elaborately paterened sweaters. For snow suits we note that it was much quite common for the outfits to be large one solid color, although many had some patterened detailing. We do not note snow suits, however with the same destinctive patterns worn for sweaters. This was, however, not the most common. Almost always if there was detailing, it was on the top rather than the pants. We have, however, seen some leggings with patterns, bith in the colorand knit. Color and patterns might also be added by colorful accessories, especially such as the caps. We are not sure yet how patterns varied over time and among countries.
