Liam Hess in the TV show "Don't Blame the Koalas" which a Scottish reader in 2004 reports is very populasr in Scotland. It is an Australian TV profram, but half of the actors are British. Not surprising it's popular as many Australians are of Scottish and Irish heritage. The program is about a British family who emigrate to Australia to run an Ostrich farm they have inherited. The children at the school featured in the program wearr British-style school uniforms, but without ties. The girls wear a blue version of tartan. After school they wear jeans and cut-offs on the farm. The children also wear Scottish style football strip, and Bush shirts and hats. The programme is in the modern style and the main charactetr, Liam, talks to the camera to bring in the audience on his schemes. Kids apparently love that, a bit like the old pantomimes. The adventures included dreaming up a new blag, many episodes on the farm, ans a "commando raid" on some Aussie rivals. We know relatively little about this program yet, it has not appeared on American televiion. We don't some uniquely Australian clothing styles iluustrated in the program. Hopefully our Australian readers will provide us some information. A Scottish reader writes, "I don't know much about it as it's shown here early on the Sunday morning. From what I'm told it's about a British family who inherit an ostrich farm in Australia and go out there and fight to make a go of it - and the kids have shenanigans at the school with the Australian kids and the younger one, played by Liam Hess, at the foremost comes up with all sorts of blags to keep the farm going. He wins a chess tournament against the local councillor's kid and the prize is they won't shut down the farm (I think), he leads a demonstration and helps a local fitba team win a match .... I think it's all about folk from outwith Australia fitting in - which is why the kids here seem to like it."
