Studio Cabinet Card Mount Serrated / Pinked Edges: Corner Serration Chronology (1892)

Figure 1.--Here we have an 1892 date examople of the serated edge cabinet card with smooth corners. It shows a cabinet card studio portatit of Nathaniel and Bertha Gilpatricn in 1892. Gilpatrick would have been more common, but the incription on the card is definitely Gilpatricn, perhgsops a misspelling. They were from Richmond, Maine and look to be about 3 years old.

1892 was right in the middlle of the period in which these pinked cabinet cards were popular. We see substanyial numbers of these caninrt cards before and after 1892. We note Allan G. Moses in 1892, Alifornia boy wearing a kilt suit with a cut-away jacket and Fauntleroy blouse on the previous page. He hold a rounded-crown hat. We also see Nathinel and Bertha Gilpatricn, Maine children wearing identical dresses with fancy white collars in 1892 (figure 1). They look to be about 3 years old.
