Figure 1.--We note only one or a few children wearing a tilaka in many Indian school photographs. It seems more common for girls than boys. It would also be more common during periods around religious festivals. We are also not sure what affect age has. Here we have an example in Ganeshpuri, near Mumbai. We only note one boy in this group with a tilaka, in this case a red dot.
