Pin-on Fauntleroy collars were commonly worn worn with different kinds of suits, both Fauntleroy and regular suits. The Fauntleroy suits were mostly collar-buttoning jackets. These were not the classic cut-away jacket suits, but we believe can be called Fauntleroy suits. Theoutfir the boy here is wearing is a good example. Pin-on collars would not work very well with the cut-awy jackets as they only provided fancy trim at the collar. Cut-away jackets were designed to show off a fancy blouse with ruffles and trim at the front as well. Fauntleroy blouses or trim items like collars and cuffs were not always worn with actual Fauntleroy suits. Rather they might be worn with regular sack suits, giving the impression of a Fauntleroy suit to the modern observer. This was done by mothers who liked the Funtleroy style but though the boy was a little too old for an actual Funtleroy suit. This was very common and we see large numbers of standard suits worn with Fauntleroy trip like pin-on collars. We often notice this done in an age graded manner. With the younger boys with moreFauntleroy trim and the older bots with less Fauntleroy trim.
