Jim and Ahlden Knight (United States, 1921)

Figure 1.-- Here is a charming portrait of Jim and Ahlden Knight. Jim of course is a familiar version. His proper names must have been James Knight. They surely were brother and sister. They were from St. Louis, Missouri. The portrait is not dated, but looks to have been taken in the early-1900s, possibly the early-20s. The children look to be about 4-6 years old. Jim wears a white sailor suit. Ahlden wears a plain, colarless white dress.

Here is a charming portrait of Jim and Ahlden (Alden in the Censis) Knight. Jim of course is a familiar version. His proper name was James G. Knight. His sister was Alden B. Knight. They surely were brother and sister. They were from St. Louis, Missouri. There father Walter Knight was a Civil Engineer. He was 37 years old in 1920. Their mother Anita was 28 years old. Walter was born in 1916. His sister in 1918. They lived in St Louis Ward 28. A third child, Andrea arrived in 1925. Their home was estimated as worth $25,000 (that was a lot of money in those days) so they must have been fairly well-to-do. The portrait here is not dated, but looks to have been taken in the early-1900s, possibly the early-20s. The children look to be about 4-6 years old. This suggests that the portrait was taken in 1921 0r 22. Jim wears a white sailor suit. Ahlden wears a plain, colarless white dress. In 1930, the Census reported them as living in University City, a St. Lous suburb.
