Boys Knitted Snow Suits: Canadian Country Patterns


Figure 1.--This is a size 6 snowsuit from Monarch Wool, Canada. It looks to be from the late 1940s. Note the coordinated mittens and cap. I'm not sure about he colors.

We do note that snow suits seem to have been especilly popular in Canada. The Canadian winters and often heavy snowfall is of course an important factor. An important factor appears to be climatic. one image we note shows a snowsuit made from a pattern offered in sizes 4-6, by Newlands Wool Canada, probably in the early 1950's. The snow suit seen here, probably from the late 1940s. It was offered in size 6. I'm not sure to what extent older Canadian boys wore them.
