Kerala is a state in southwestern India. Throughout southern India many boys and men wear traditional clothing, especially in rural areas. I'm not entirely sure why, but the fact that it is very inexpensive is pronably a factor. More boys than men wear western clothing in many areas. Here a factor is the schoolds. School uniforms for boys almost always are western styles. Many children go barefoot, particularly in villages' schools.
