Jonstorp School: The 1950s


Figure 1.--Another photograph was taken 10 years later after the first in 1950. This looks more like a class group than the entire school. We notice the same perspective with the school and wood in the background, although perhaps from a different side. If so the school ws clearly set in a wood rather than in the middle of the village. All of the girls wear dresses and most are still wearing pinafores. The boys wear mostly sweaters with knickers. We believe a factor here was that the eather had turned a little cool.

Another photograph was taken 10 years later after the first in 1950. This looks more like a class group than the entire school. We notice the same perspective with the school and wood in the background, although perhaps from a different side. If so the school ws clearly set in a wood rather than in the middle of the village. All of the girls wear dresses and most are still wearing pinafores. This suggests that the school strongly promoted it, but perhaps did not require it. The boys wear mostly sweaters with knickers. We believe a factor here was that the eather had turned a little cool. In warm weather some of the boys probably wold have worn short pants. Interestingly none of the boys wear long pants.
