The trees in the background show that the photograph was taken during the Winter. He looks to be about 11 years old and not over joyed to have his photograph taken.

This unidentified Texas boy was photographed in Fort Worth during 1926. This is a good example of how American boys dressed during the 1926. His clothes are somewhat seasonal. The trees in the background show that the photograph was taken during the Winter. He looks to be about 11 years old and not over joyed to have his photograph taken. We're not sure why as boys this age usually like having their photograph taken. He wears many of the classic garments of the 1920s: a flat cap, sweater, knickers, and long stockings. His cap has a button-flap front. He has a plain white shirt. His heavy pullover sweater has a roll collar in a contrasting color. He wears his knickers buckled above-the-knee. We assume his mother may have insisted on this. He wears black long stockings and lace-up high shoes. One matter we are unsure about is how he is dressed. Is this his best outfit. Or is this perhaps how he dressed for school. We are not sure. The background suggests that this is not one of the more affluent areas of Fort Worth, but neither does it look like an especially poor neigborhood. Note the Model-A Ford in the distant background.
