Figure 1.-- We have found this painting on several internet sites, but unfortunatly unlike the Krystall portrait no indication of who the child is or when it was painted. No actual information may exist on the portrait. We might guess that the portrait was painted in the 1910s. It is usually entitled 'Girl with a dog'. We do not think this is what Kossak called it, but named by art historians who just assumed the child is a girl because of the hair and fancy dress. The outfit looks to us like a pink velvet Fauntleroy suit with large white collar and wrist cuffs. We can nor be sure because the way the child is posed we only see a hint of the pants that a boy would have been wearing.

It is usually entitled 'Girl with a dog'. We do not think this is what Kossak called it, but named by art historians who just assumed the child is a girl because of the hair and fancy dress. The outfit looks to us like a pink velvet Fauntleroy suit with large white collar and wrist cuffs. We can nor be sure because the way the child is posed we only see a hint of the pants that aboy would have been wearing. But we think are clearly there. He may be a child from a rich family or like Karol Krystall an artistic family. Unlike America, Fauntleroy suits were no common in Poland. But some boys from wealthy families may have worn them.
