Finally we see Dan in a portrait done as a cabinet card. It is not a studio portrait. It was taken outdoors in a city somewhere. It is well posed, suggesting that a professional photographer took it, even though it was not taken in a studio. We do not know if a professional photographer was working outdoors or if Dan's parents took the photograopher and a studio mount it as a cabinet card. Dan is wearing a flat cap and double-breasted knickers suit in 1914. Note the narrow tie and collar. This is the only one of the photographs with a definitivve date. Thus it can be used to date the other photographs. The flat cap may match, but we are not sure. Notice the high-top shoes. The long stockings do seem to match. The portrait is a cabinet card showing that the format was still being made in the 1910s and an example of the style.
