They are featured on the country's coat of arms. The emblem has three golden crowns on a blue background, with two crowns above one below. The crowns seem to represent the union of three Scandinavian kingdoms in the Middle Ages, but there are other possible explanations. CDVs continued to be made in many European countries after they had largely disappered in America. They are Waldemar and Carl Ekstrand. We are not at all sure when the portait was taken. They wear identical white blouses without jackets, small bows, knee pants, and long stockings--and staple for boys and girls througout Scandanavia. The photographer was K.L. Berner, Hjorted, Sweden.
