Mrs. F.L Herreshoff and Son (United States, 1910s)

Herreshoff
Figure 1.-- We note a potrait of Mrs. F.L Herreshoff and her unidentified son. He looks to be about 9 years old. He wears an Eton collar with a light-colored summer Norfolk suit with knickers. He also has white three-quarter socks with blck patent leather dress dance pumps. High-top shoes were still standard for regular wear. The portrait is not dated, but we would guess was taken in the 1910s, probably the late-1910s. The very early-20s is possibkle. Except for the shoes ad perhaps Eton collar, the boy does not seem very formally dressed.

We are not sure just who she was. The portrait suggestrs a well to do family. We note the Herreshoff family of Rhode Island and Herreshoff Manufacturing Company which was involved with boat building and the Anmerica's Cup.
