This tinted tin-type portait shows Eddie Newall, perhaps taken during the 1880s. Unfortunately the portrait is not dated. Dating tin-types are difficult because there are no clues from the mounts. I think this is clearly not the 1860s. The furniture suggests perhaps the 1870s, but the ringlets make is more likely to be the 1880s, probably the late-80-s or less likely the early 90s. The small collar and neckwear seems to suggest the 1870s. Reader insights here would be apprecited. Eddie is pictured with a small wooden wheelbarrow. Some more professionally posed than we note for many tin-types at the time. Eddie looks to be about 5 years old. He has long ringlet curls and is wearing a checked gingham dress. We are uhsure about the color. He looks like he's all set for gardening, with his wide-brimmed straw hat sitting on a chair next to him--note the long streamer. Eddie Newell was the name written on the old photo album which had this and other photographs. A little tinting has been added to create rosy cheeks.
