Figure 1.-- The only information we have about this boy is his name -- Olivier Philipe. He is the son of French actor Gérard Philipe. The photograph was taken by in France. Oliver wearing a dark, long-sleeved velvet shirt with short-cut sort pants, the popular style in France at the time. He has white ankle socks and closd-toe sandals--what the British would call school sandals. This was before sneakers were trendy. The sandals weere common in frnce, but not as common as in Britain. He looks to have been photographed in the 1950s, perhaps the early-60s. He is taking the family dog on a walk.
