Canadian Families: The Millar Family (1920s)

Figure 1.--We have found a photograph of the Millar family from British Colombia. They mave had Scottish connections. The photograph was found in a photographic album of several families and we do not know what the family connections were. The snapshot here shows 'Jemmy, Belle, Joan, Betty, David' from the Millar family in the yard with their home in the background. David wears a short pants suit with what looks like school knee socks. He is about 10 years old. The snapshot is not dated, but was probably taken in the late-1920s and early-30s. The snapshot came from a collection of photographs mostly from two Canadian families, the Rennie and Bowditch families, dating to the 1920s and the 1930s.

One address we found in the collection was Mrs. G. Rennie, 954 Hampshire Rd., Victoria, BC, Canada. We believe that Peter S. Rennie was a merchant mariner on the Dollar Shipping Line. We believe that he was born in Scotland, moved to Canada and married Patria Yribarren on December 26, 1924. They later moved to California and we believe they lived on 10th Ave. in Los Angeles. We believe that it's Peter's brother and his family that resided at the Hampshire Road address. Another address we found was for the Bowditch family, 941 Lampson St., Victoria, BC, Canada. The parents were Fred and Elizabeth Watson Bowditch, and they had two boys, William and George. We are not sure at how the Rennie and Bowditch families were related.
