Canadian Boys' Clothes: Lavoie Family (Late-1930s or Early-30s)

Figure 1.--We note the Lavoie family, a very large family in Rivière-Verte, New Brunswick. The photograph is undated. They certainly were a large family. That may mean it was a Catholic family. Given the ages of the children, it looks like more than one family was involved here. There is only one man in the photograph. He presumably is the grand father. Put your cursor on the omafe to see the rest of the family.

It is undated, but looks to have been taken in the late-1920s or early-30s. It is difficult to be more definitive. The long pants the boys are wearing were probably more common in the 1930s. Long pants were worn by boys in the 1920s and 30s, but were nore common in the 30s. Here social class was a factor. They were more common for working-class in rural families. The girls wear simple dresses, some with pinafores. Almost al the children are barefoot. The family looks like a working-class family.
