We also see an Evangelical church with A VBS in the 1920s (figure 1). We can't make out the specific year, but we can make out 192?. This Church is in San Diego, California. Clearly VBS was being adopted by Anerica's many different denominations--at least the Protestant churches. The VBS began as a non-sectarian movement, but the idea soon caught on with major denominations like the Baptists, Methodidts, Pesbyterians, and other. We are not sure abouth the Catholics. This included the Evangelicals like the Church here. The material fror VBS was very basic Cristanity so it did nothave to be denomination specific. This mean that even the smaller denominations could set up VBSs. Evangelicals in meric were a stronly working-class movement. Notice the very basic church and the many barefoot children.
